Dr. Joseph Dove is a dedicated Detroit native who has made a significant impact on both his community and the field of dentistry. With a passion for healthcare, a loving family, and a commitment to service, Dr. Dove’s journey has been one of inspiration and achievement.
Born and raised in Detroit, Dr. Dove has called the Motor City home for his entire life and will always cheer for the Detroit Lions! He is a family man through and through, having been happily married to his wife, Tina, a highly skilled BSN/RN, for over 30 years. Together, they have raised three sons: Salim, who graduated from SIUE in 2018 B.S.Political Science, currently attending Birmingham School of Law, a class of 2024 , and Naseem, who completed his studies at UIC in 2022.( B.S. Investment Banking/Finance) Musa, the youngest, is on track to graduate from GVSU in 2025. Dr. Dove’s commitment to family values is evident in both his personal and professional life.
After graduating from Meharry Medical College in 1998, Dr. Dove embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of dentistry. In 2006, he co-founded Dove Family Dentistry alongside his best friend and classmate, Dr. Anthony Polk. Together, they established a thriving private practice that has been serving their community for over a decade.
Dr. Dove’s dedication to service extends beyond the dental chair. He is a proud United States Army Veteran and a United States Army Reserve Sergeant, having served at Fort Campbell and in Central America. His military service reflects his unwavering commitment to his country and community.
Not content with only a successful private practice, Dr. Dove has a passion for humanitarian work and community service. He is an organizer and planner of dental mission trips, collaborating with MB2 to provide dental care to underserved populations in Jamaica and Guatemala. His passion for giving back doesn’t stop there; Dr. Dove has been a steadfast partner of Jackson Elementary School for over 17 years, where he serves as the Spelling Bee pronouncer since 2007, and other incentives for their teachers and students.
Dr. Dove’s dedication to mentorship is another facet of his illustrious career. Over the last two decades, he has been actively involved in guiding high school and college students towards careers in healthcare. His influence and mentorship have left an indelible mark on many aspiring healthcare professionals.
As a member of the National Dental Association (NDA) and the National Dental Practice Based Research Network since 2017, Dr. Dove is committed to advancing the field of dentistry through research and collaboration. His involvement in these organizations showcases his ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of dental care.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Dove finds joy in various hobbies, including traveling, cooking, boxing, exercising, and even riding his Harley. These interests reflect his zest for life and adventurous spirit. Dr. Joseph Dove is not only a highly respected dentist but also a compassionate community leader and mentor. His unwavering dedication to family, service, and the dental profession has earned him a special place in the hearts of those he serves.
