Although dental implants are not the only way we have to replace missing teeth, they are one of the most popular ways to do it. Dental implants are strong, look great, and will last a lifetime with regular brushing and flossing care. Getting dental implants is a three-step procedure.
When you come to our practice to get Memphis dental implants our dentist will first need to determine that you will be a good candidate for the procedure. Your jawbone will need to be found to be healthy enough to hold the implant. Then, your medical health will need to be good enough so that your jawbone can easily and fully heal from the surgery. Step two will be to surgically implant the lower titanium root portion of the implant. The surgery is done using local anesthesia, and the patient remains perfectly comfortable during the procedure. The jawbone must then heal, during which time the implant will fuse to the jawbone. This can take up to several months – the time frame varies with each patient. Then, the final step is for our dentist to permanently attach the upper porcelain crown portion to the implant. Your implant is now complete. Not only will your smile look great, but you will be able to eat anything you want in total comfort, with total confidence.
